About Ewing’s Research Foundation
After just just arriving home for summer from George Washington University, Reed Kavner checked in with his doctor about a persistent pain in his hip and was blindsided with a diagnosis of Ewing’s sarcoma. Reed was disheartened to learn that Ewing’s is referred to as an “orphan disease,” meaning that research efforts are woefully underfunded. In an effort to take back some control over his life, two months into chemotherapy treatments, with no hair but a lot of determination, he founded Ewing’s Research Foundation in August 2006. To further the reach of ERF, the foundation forged a relationship with The V Foundation for Cancer Research, whose world-class scientific review committee helps ERF in identifying the most promising research projects on the laboratory bench and in clinics throughout the world.
Today, Ewing’s Research Foundation is steadily raising funds and has written grants to three top-tier research institutions, all of which are dedicated to creating more effective therapies using state-of-the-art technologies and cutting-edge methods.
Ewing’s Research Foundation takes great pride in its fiscal responsibility and is proud to announce that it gives 100 percent of all donations to cancer research. So, please join ERF in the battle against this disease that continues to claim the lives of too many promising young people.
